The short answer

The leads are already in the groups you joined months ago. Nobody reads them, because a person cannot follow forty group chats and notice the three messages that were buying signals.

The workflow that works: join the right groups manually, connect those accounts to Entergram, then point an AI client such as Claude or ChatGPT at them through an MCP server. The assistant reads the member lists and message history across every connected account, finds the people who showed intent, and hands you a qualified list instead of a wall of chat.

One boundary first, stated plainly because this industry is vague about it: the lead work in this guide happens in groups your accounts have already joined. Finding a group in the first place is a separate step, and Entergram's MCP does support it through a live Telegram search that returns public groups and channels from outside your workspace by name or username. What no tool can do is put you inside a private group you were never invited to, or read a group before you join it. For topic-led discovery, see how to find Telegram groups.

If you want the queries without reading the whole guide, the Telegram lead finder builds them for you: pick a signal, say what you sell, copy the result into your AI client.

Why group membership lists are the wrong place to start

The instinct is to pull the member list of a big group and start messaging. It is the worst version of this workflow, for three reasons.

Member lists are not intent. Being in a Solana developers group means someone was interested in Solana at some point, possibly in 2023. It says nothing about whether they need what you sell this quarter.

Cold-messaging a scraped list is how accounts get limited. Telegram restricts accounts that message many people with no prior contact. A member list is exactly that, a list of strangers. The practical rule from our outreach guide holds here: the more your message pattern looks like a list, the faster the account gets flagged.

It scales badly and converts worse. Two thousand names produce a low single-digit reply rate and a damaged account. Forty people who asked a relevant question last month produce a conversation.

So the useful unit is not the member list. It is the message history, filtered by intent.

What the MCP connection actually gives you

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call external tools. The Entergram Telegram MCP server publishes tools over the Telegram accounts you have connected, and the assistant can call them repeatedly and reason across the combined output.

The tools that matter for lead work:

  • entergram_list_chats and entergram_get_chat to enumerate conversations across every connected account
  • entergram_list_groups and entergram_get_group for the groups themselves
  • entergram_list_group_members and entergram_get_member for who is in them
  • entergram_list_messages to read history, which is where intent lives
  • entergram_list_contacts, entergram_get_contact and entergram_list_contact_shared_groups to resolve a person and see which other groups you share with them
  • entergram_patch_chat_custom_fields and entergram_create_ticket to write the result back as CRM state rather than a note in a text file

That last pair is the difference between a research exercise and a pipeline. A lead you found and did not record is a lead you will find again next month.

The workflow, step by step

1. Join the right groups, deliberately

This part is manual and stays manual. Use the discovery methods in the group finding guide: precise topic and location queries, links from the organization's own site, recommendations from communities you already trust. Join from the account that should own the relationship, not from whichever account was logged in.

Quality beats volume hard here. Five groups where your buyers actually talk outperform fifty crypto-airdrop groups, and the assistant's output is only as good as the rooms you are in.

2. Connect those accounts

Connect each account to Entergram. The MCP endpoint is scoped to exactly the accounts you connect and authorize, so anything you leave out is out of scope permanently. If you run one account for work and personal life, set your excluded chats before connecting rather than after.

3. Ask for intent, not for names

This is the step people get wrong. Do not ask for a member list. Ask for the behavior that predicts a deal.

Across all my connected accounts, find messages from the last 30 days where someone described a problem that our product solves, asked for a tool recommendation, or complained about a competitor. Group them by person and include the message and which group it was in.

In my 12 industry groups, who asked a question that nobody answered in the last two weeks?

Which people appear in three or more of my groups and have posted at least once this month?

That third one is a quiet favorite. Someone active across several of your communities is already embedded in your market, and entergram_list_contact_shared_groups makes that a one-call question instead of an afternoon.

The unanswered-question query is the highest-converting pattern we see. An unanswered question is an open need with no competitor in the conversation yet, and answering it usefully is a warm opening that does not read as outreach, because it is not.

4. Qualify before you write

Ask the assistant to do the filtering it is actually good at:

For each of those people, summarize what they seem to be working on based on their messages in my groups, and flag anyone who mentioned budget, timing or an existing tool.

You now have a short list with context attached. A message that references the actual thing someone said in a group reads as a human who was paying attention, because that is what it is.

5. Write it back to the CRM

Push the result into Entergram as structured state: a custom field for source group, one for the intent signal, a follow-up date. Use entergram_patch_chat_custom_fields for chat-level state or entergram_create_ticket when it needs an owner and an SLA. From there it behaves like any other pipeline, which is what Telegram lead management covers in depth.

What this cannot do, precisely

Global search finds groups by name, not by what is said inside them. entergram_search_telegram returns public people, groups, supergroups and channels from outside your workspace, and flags which ones an account of yours already belongs to. It matches names and usernames, so it will not surface every group that merely discusses your topic, and it is rate limited because the query runs live through a real account. Reading a group's messages still requires that one of your accounts has joined it.

No private groups you were not admitted to. The tools act with exactly your account's visibility. Nothing more is technically reachable, which is the correct design.

Not a bot, and a bot could not do this. A Telegram bot sees a group only after an administrator adds it and grants permission, and it cannot read history from before it arrived. Community admins do not add vendors' bots to their groups. Your own account already sees those conversations, so a tool acting through your account can read what you can read, and nothing beyond it.

Not a scraper, and this matters legally. You are reading conversations you are a legitimate member of, for your own commercial use. That is different from harvesting and reselling a database. Keep it that way: do not export member lists as a product, respect each group's rules about promotion, and remember that GDPR obligations follow the data if you are recording EU individuals in a CRM.

Rate reality: this is a slow, warm motion

The output of this workflow is deliberately small. Forty groups might yield fifteen genuinely qualified people in a month. That feels thin next to a scraped list of three thousand, right up until you compare reply rates and account health.

Send from the account that is actually in the group. Reference the real message. Message a handful of people a day, not a hundred. Telegram's limiting behavior keys on patterns that look automated, and a slow warm motion never trips it.

When an article beats a group-finder tool

If what you need is to discover brand-new communities from scratch, a directory or finder tool is the right instrument and this workflow does not replace it.

But discovery is the cheap half of the problem and it is a one-time cost. The expensive half, the one that recurs every week forever, is noticing the three messages that mattered inside the rooms you already joined. That is the half nobody has time for, and it is the half where an AI assistant with read access to your own accounts genuinely changes the economics.

A practical sequence

  1. Join 10 to 20 groups where your buyers actually talk, from the account that should own those relationships.
  2. Connect those accounts to Entergram and set your excluded chats first.
  3. Add the MCP endpoint to the AI client you already use.
  4. Run the intent queries weekly, not daily. Most groups do not produce a new signal every day.
  5. Record every qualified person as CRM state with a source and a follow-up date.
  6. Reply in the group where it is appropriate, and direct-message only where a reply would be odd.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI find Telegram groups for me?

Partly. Through Entergram's MCP an assistant can run a live Telegram search that returns public groups and channels you have not joined, matched by name or username and rate limited. It can also search across the groups you are already in, which Telegram's own search cannot do in a single query spanning several accounts. Reading what is said inside a group still requires joining it.

Is extracting leads from Telegram groups allowed?

Reading conversations in groups you legitimately joined, for your own sales use, is normal commercial research. Harvesting member lists to build or resell a contacts database is a different activity with real legal exposure under GDPR and similar regimes, and it also violates most groups' rules.

Will this get my Telegram account banned?

The reading does not. The messaging might, if you treat the output as a cold list. Telegram limits accounts that send many messages to people with no prior contact. Keep volume low, reference real context, and prefer replying in the group over direct messages.

Do I need a Telegram bot for this?

No, and a bot would not work. Bots only see groups where an admin added them with permission, and they cannot read history from before they joined.
