Your Telegram Muscle Memory Now Works in Entergram

If you spend your day in Telegram, your hands already know the shortcuts. Cmd+B for bold, Cmd+I for italic, a quick key combo to drop a link into a message. The last thing you want when you move your conversations into a Telegram CRM is to relearn all of that — or worse, to reach for the mouse every time you format a reply.

That is why Entergram's message composer now supports the same text formatting shortcuts you use in Telegram Desktop and Telegram for macOS. Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, monospace, and links — all from the keyboard, in every chat.

This post covers every shortcut the composer understands, a few Entergram-specific extras that make replies even faster, and an honest note about which Telegram Desktop shortcuts cannot carry over to a browser-based tool.

Why Shortcuts Matter in a CRM

A CRM is where high-volume conversations live. Sales reps juggling 150 prospect chats, support agents clearing a queue, community managers moderating multiple groups — for these workflows, every trip from keyboard to mouse is a small tax paid hundreds of times a day.

Formatting is not cosmetic, either. Bold text makes prices and deadlines stand out. Monospace is the standard way to share wallet addresses, order IDs, and promo codes in Telegram — recipients can tap to copy them. Links let you attach a payment page or a docs article to readable anchor text instead of pasting a raw URL. Teams that format well get answered faster.

So the formatting had to be first-class, and it had to be keyboard-first.

The Full List of Formatting Shortcuts

These work in the message composer in any chat, on selected text or as you type:

Action macOS Windows / Linux
Bold Cmd+B Ctrl+B
Italic Cmd+I Ctrl+I
Underline Cmd+Shift+U Ctrl+Shift+U
Strikethrough Cmd+Shift+X Ctrl+Shift+X
Monospace Cmd+Shift+M Ctrl+Shift+M
Add link Cmd+U or Cmd+K Ctrl+U or Ctrl+K

If you are coming from Telegram Desktop, Cmd+Shift+X and Cmd+Shift+M are exactly the keys you already use. For links we accept both Cmd+K (Telegram Desktop's binding) and Cmd+U (the key many macOS Telegram users reach for), so whichever habit you bring, it works. Underline lives on Cmd+Shift+U.

You never have to memorize any of this: hover over any button in the formatting toolbar and the tooltip shows its shortcut. Select text in the composer and a floating format bar appears right above your selection with the same actions.

All formatting is sent as native Telegram entities, so your recipients see proper bold, italic, monospace, and links in their own Telegram apps — nothing Entergram-specific on their end.

Writing, Sending, and Fixing Typos

Formatting is half the story. The composer also follows Telegram's conventions for the message lifecycle:

Action Key
Send message Enter
New line Shift+Enter
Edit your last message Up arrow (with an empty composer)
Cancel editing Esc

The Up-arrow edit is the one that saves the most face: sent a message with a typo, press Up, fix it, Enter. Done — edited in place in Telegram, no "*fix" follow-up message needed.

Press Cmd+U (or Cmd+K) with text selected and a small dialog opens to attach a URL to that text. Paste the address, hit Enter, and the link is in your draft.

When your draft contains a link, the composer fetches Telegram's own web page preview — the same title, description, and thumbnail your recipient will see — before you send. You know exactly how the message will land, and you can dismiss the preview if you want the message to go out clean.

Beyond Formatting: Keyboard-First Replies

Two composer features pair naturally with the shortcuts:

  • Slash-command templates. Give any message template a label starting with / (like /pricing or /welcome), then type it in the composer to insert the full template — content, formatting, and attachments — without opening the picker. For scripted replies you use dozens of times a day, this is the single biggest time-saver in Entergram.
  • @ mentions. Type @ in a group chat and member names auto-complete as you type. Arrow keys to choose, Enter to insert.

Combined with broadcast messaging and multi-account management, the goal is simple: the mechanical part of messaging should never be the bottleneck.

What Doesn't Carry Over (and Why)

A quick note for completeness. Telegram Desktop also has app-level shortcuts — Ctrl+Tab to jump between chats, Ctrl+W to minimize, Ctrl+0 for Saved Messages. Those keys belong to the application window, and in a browser they belong to the browser: Ctrl+Tab switches browser tabs, Cmd+W closes one. No web app can (or should) take them over.

Entergram's answer for fast navigation is different: sortable, filterable chat tables, pinned conversations, and saved views that bring the right chats to the top — so you jump by intent, not by cycling through a list.

Getting Started

The shortcuts are live in the composer now — open any chat in app.entergram.com and try Cmd+B.
